Prepare yourself for an entertaining journey of mentalism and oh, so magnificent mind trickery with Canadian Mind-Reader and Magician, Jeff Newman.
The audience entered the intimate surrounds of the Supper Room at Perth Town Hall not knowing what to expect.
The vibe was slightly apprehensive and somewhat sceptic – as to be expected. Those feelings didn’t have a chance to pass as Newman opened the show by selecting (mostly) nervous people from the crowd. While he scanned the audience, heads turn everywhere other than towards him.
But to his credit, Newman made everyone in the intimate audience feel welcome and comfortable. He was charming, and he was most certainly engaging.
Soon enough, everyone was involved and everyone was interacting – whether it be through audible gasps, deep bellied laughter or looks of semi-bewildered amazement.
Newman has travelled the world performing mind-boggling mentalism, and it shows. He is a talented individual with the ability to engage an audience from the beginning of the show, all the way to the end.
The hour passed so quickly that shocked whispers sounded through the audience when Newman announced the show was about to conclude. How had it been an hour already?!
This show will leave even the sceptics wondering. It leaves you asking question, after question, after question. Who? What? Where? When? Why?! It features those moments that make you turn to the person next to you and pull a weird, “what the heck?” kind of face.
The best part? Throughout the entire show, nobody knew they were being fooled, or how.
Newman has created a fun and Fringe-worthy performance that is undoubtedly intriguing, lively and impressive – and while it’s not a show that you’re likely to choose to watch over and over again, it’s also not something that you will forget anytime soon.
