Christian Elderfield: Bolloxed

By Beth Weiss on 31 Jan 2018

Come and listen to a Brit decipher the Aussie way of life in 60 minutes.

Christian Elderfield has been living in Australia for two and a half years. So far, he has learnt that everyone here calls each other ‘mate’, and this could either be a term of endearment or an antagonistic threat… its up to you to work out which.

In his stand-up comedy ‘Bolloxed’, Elderfield hilariously recounts some of his life experiences living in Australia and from back in his homeland Britain.

He is a natural storyteller, quick witted, and provides some brutally accurate social commentary on us Australians which will have you in fits of laughter.

Elderfield isn’t afraid to comment on his own shortcomings in life, from the time when his entire audience consisted of 4 Portuguese men, all who didn’t speak much English (which turned into 2, after the first 2 walked out halfway), from the time as kid when the height of his acting career consisted of playing an inanimate object in his school production.

Elderfield has a fantastic stage presence, he engages with the audience just the right amount, and his use of on the spot observational humour is a testament to his talent.

Elderfield isn’t always politically correct, and he does delve into some very awkward personal confessions, but he has a raw honesty and relatability about him which is what makes him so likeable.

The energy of the show improved as time went on, and although there were some moments where the jokes fell flat, there were certainly many highlights and enough well-crafted anecdotes and witty one-liners to keep the audience engaged.

Elderfield has even appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2013 where he got 4 yes’s from the judges. Even Simon Cowell said that he “actually found him very funny”.

Elderfield has so many stories to share with you all, there is bound to be something in his show to provide you with a solid belly laugh.
