Chores

By Isabella Tait on 15 Feb 2018

“We hope you enjoyed the show because we enjoy doing it”.

Chores is more than a bit of fun for the family. It is interactive and clever and snippets of the humour exceeds that of the 2-12 age range, with, dare I say, ALL of the adults having as much fun as their kids.

It depicts two young boys played by the talented young men Derek Llewellyn and Julian Roberts as they reluctantly clean their room, all the while amassing an even bigger mess for the pleasure of their audience.

These artists are as inventive as they are talented, with surprise homemade machines providing amazement over such a simple thing as toilet paper. This show features teamwork and cooperation in the form of acrobatic tricks and a fresh take on slapstick comedy.

There’s juggling, hoop tricks, and silly little things for the little ones. They run around the room and from the way the kids I took were sitting on the very edge of their seats, they were just waiting to be called on in some way.

Luckily, they didn’t have to wait long as the performers addressed the audience and everyone was soon joining in on the good time.

I was worried the 11-year-old I took along wouldn’t have as good a time as the 8-year-old that also came and I’m so glad my fears were dashed within the first few minutes.

It’s a captivating show, and one that produced uproarious laughter from everyone in the crowd – young and old – at some point during the performance.

Isabella doesn’t know much, but pretends she does. I like sneaking Tim Tams into cinemas. She travels, dyes her hair too often and writes. Her skin regime consists of one word: neglect – probably a brag but she'll keep you posted. Oh, and her handstand abilities are impressive.
