Ladies who are impervious to fire and pain, snake charmers, exotic dancers, and a fab MC set the scene for a fun night at the Creepshow Cabaret.
The Mistress of Ceremonies Simone Springer was top class and really pulled the show together. Some light joshing of the audience including some fabulous flirtatious banter set us at ease – Springer is charming and funny and is no doubt highly regarded in her community.
The show was in an outside beer garden, which I felt was an unusual choice of venue, but the very first act featured two dancers with fire fans. The billowing flames showed us why this show was definitely not suited to an intimate indoor theatre.
The crowd filled the space to capacity. If you want front row seats I suggest getting in early – maybe go for dinner – but be prepared to enjoy the up-close and personal experience that will follow!
I really enjoyed the unusual masked contortion act by Saskia Twist and the burlesque-with-a-catch by guest performer Leopard Lass. The grand finale starring MissObscene was top-notch.
You could tell that some of the night’s performers were emerging artists, but the spectacle of snake charmers, burlesque starlets and classic sideshow moves like human blockhead and the bed of nails elicited the full range of oohs and aahs and squeals and groans.
Many people only see these tricks just the one time in their lives, and it is definitely a spectacle worth seeing. Grab a ticket, grab a couple glasses of gin and settle in to see sights the likes of which might never be repeated before your very eyes.
