A Different Class – Nic Monisse and Grant Mushet

By Morgan Riley on 13 Feb 2018

When two of Perth’s quirkiest up-and-coming young comics team up for an hour of buddy comedy, it’s almost guaranteed that good things are going to happen.

And so it goes with Leederville’s Nic Monisse and Scotland’s Grant Mushet performing A Different Class at The Craft – Beer and Cider Garden every Friday and Saturday in February.

Nic’s rapid fire jokes, effusive charisma and organic crowd banter won the audience over immediately. A lesser comic might have been nervous following Nic’s class act but not Grant; he took over smoothly and kept the funny flowing for another 25 minutes.

Grant’s humour takes a dark turn compared to Nic’s, though both touch on similar themes that will resonate strongly with anyone who is, has been, or wishes they were still around the age of 25.

They may be from a different class but Grant and Nic have ended up in the same league and the audience loves it. From the first gag the chemistry between the two comics is infectiously funny.

The boys rotate the roster to keep things fresh for every performance but the formula stays the same.

One funny guy for 25 minutes followed by another funny guy for 25 minutes with a lot of giggles in the meantime.

At $10 a ticket this might be one of the best value comedy hours you will see all month.

It’s a special 2-for-1 with two comedians you will want to keep an eye on as their styles develop, so you can say you saw them at FRINGE WORLD Festival 2018 when they were just starting out.

A Different Class is the perfect way to kick off a night of Fringe in Northbridge, no matter what class you associate with. It’s light (most of the time) and very funny, and well worth the cost of a pint of draught or a glass of prosecco.
