Fringe For Newbies
In less than 10 years, FRINGE WORLD has become the biggest summer celebration in WA, putting Perth on the world map of unmissable Festivals. No biggie.
It’s epic, and draws Fringe Binge newcomers every year, so for the uninitiated, we are going to give you a crash course in FRINGE WORLD.
After all, it is where magic happens.
What is FRINGE WORLD?
Since 2011, FRINGE WORLD has grown to be the third largest in the world, behind Edinburgh and Adelaide, drawing artists and visitors from across the country and around the world.
This year, there will be more than 700 sensational shows to see at more than 140 vivacious venues across Perth City, the ‘burbs and beyond.
Shows cover all imaginable genres, from comedy to cabaret, circus to spoken word, wacky and wild and everything in between.
There is literally something for everyone, every age and every taste!
What should I see?
As much as you can!
There is more than 700 shows and events to choose from, but you can narrow your search down on fringeworld.com.au by genre, date, venue and more.
Swing by one of the Box Offices and chat with Fringe staff – they might have some cool recommendations.
You may even bump into a roving artist, who can give you an idea what their show is like!
Grab a physical guide and have a flick through over a cuppa. Got some ankle-biters? The Kleenheat Sizzle Factor guide is great for find age appropriate shows. There is some racy, adults only stuff out there that is not for kiddies!

What about tickets?
This is the easy part – jump onto fringeworld.com.au and start shopping!
The average ticket price is $26, so lining up a Fringe Binge won’t break the bank! You could even do more than one show a night.
You can carry around your e-ticket conveniently in your phone or pick up a physical ticket at the Box Office. FRINGE WORLD loves to make things easy!
Where are the cool Fringe hangs?
These are some really awesome spots to hang out with mates, soak in the awesome summer vibes and catch a few shows.
But there are also pop up venues all over the Perth metro area and out in the suburbs, with many established businesses opening their space for performers during the Festival.
That’s half the fun of Fringe – venues pop up all over the place in spaces you may never have guessed so keep an eye out. Surprise!
