First Look At FRINGE WORLD 2020!

It looks like FRINGE WORLD 2020 is going to be epic and the best one yet based on a cheeky early tease of what’s to come with 200 cool shows on sale now!

We are getting super excited for the 2020 Festival – there is going to be more than 700 events at more than 150 venues across Perth, buzzing hubs, returning faves, exciting fresh new acts and a couple of mind-blowing additions.

We are getting treated to a sneak peak of what is to come with tickets to 100 shows available now, weeks ahead of the full program reveal in November, so get the credit card ready and give it a good workout!

  1. Returning Favourites

Looks like Perth’s favourite Fringe playground The Woodside Pleasure Garden is the place to be to catch all your returning faves and keep the kids occupied during the school holidays in 2020.

Hugely popular and 2019 Martin Sims Award Winner (the Festival’s top prize) YUCK Circus bring their powerhouse of female performers back for more high-flying acrobatics and groovy dancing. You can catch them alongside the cheeky and chiselled boys from the racy western-themed circus spectacular Railed.

The hypnosis is real, and so are the laughs, with Fringe favourite Matt Hale, who brings his latest show Comedy Hypnotist Matt Hale: Random Acts of Mindness for more hypnotic fun. You may even be chosen to go up stage to take part!

The Fringe Kids program offers a range of boredom busters with more shows, free activities and events for the entire family. Kid favourites The Dummies are back with their new splish-splashing circus Splash Test Dummies, get interactive with the live action video game show Game ON 2.0! where everyone gets to use a Nerf gun and every generation’s favourite Peter Combe will get everyone up and singing with Brush Your Hair with a Toothbrush.

For a change of pace for the grown-ups, head over to the Girls School hub for the return of smash hit theatre production Orpheus, which weaves a world of dive bars, side streets and ancient gods.

  1. FRINGE WORLD debuts

Once you have had a fix of your Fringe favourites, feast your eyes on a range of shows brand new to FRINGE WORLD in 2020.

The rollickingly good ride The Choir of Man makes its Fringe debut at The Ice Cream Factory and is sure to be a Festival fave for many Fringe goers with its pub classics, rock ballads and pop hits.

Treat all of the senses at the immersive cinematic experience Selfless Orchestra: Great Barrier, which features award winning footage scored by live orchestral music that explores the history of one of Australia’s natural wonders. It’s like nothing you have seen before!

Catch three generations of incredible circus women in the family affair show Casting Off which proves that age is no barrier when it comes to performing exciting stunts in front of a crowd of Fringe goers!

  1. Second Biggest Hub

As if the historic East Perth Girls School makeover in 2019 wasn’t epic enough when it was turned into the mind-bending experience A Midnight Visit (which still gives us shivers!), it will now be FRINGE WORLD’s second biggest hub in 2020!

The school will transform once again, but this time into an exciting and epic Festival hub offering comedy, cabaret and theatre in 10 amazing performance spaces, plus exciting exhibitions and impressive installations, VR experiences and a secret bar! (Shh!).

Get some belly laughs and catch the 200th performance of the parody of the funeral speech in The Eulogy or the perspective of Aussie life from a Japanese person with Welcome To Japan.  Enjoy some catchy cabaret such as the stripped back celebration of music with pop hits re-imagined in I Sing Songs or jazz up your Fringe experience with Kiara with a K: That Jazz making the ol’ dazzle dazzle new again.

We predict many hours will be spent here this coming Festival but do not fear, a cool new outdoor food offering will mean you will not go hungry!

Experience the Festival like you have never experienced it before and be part of Fringe history with a once-in-a-lifetime FRINGE WORLD first!

For the first time ever, FRINGE WORLD is offering a unique experience on a cruise ship with Fringe On The Water.

This event includes an overnight stay in Fremantle onboard Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ stunning Vasco da Gama cruise ship, a special FRINGE WORLD highlights performance, roving sideshow performers, dinner and breakfast in a choice of four restaurants and the chance to dance the night away to live music and DJs.

This will be a one night only opportunity, so grab those tickets fast before you miss out!

Adults Only!

You have definitely heard of it before, some of you have probably even already had a sneaky peek. (We don’t blame you!) Things are going to get nutty at Fringe in 2020 with the world-famous Puppetry Of The Penis setting up for some cheeky adults only fun at The Ice Cream Factory.

Jump into bed with the creators of Blanc De Blanc and Limbo for some sexy times with Happy Times Hotel: Featuring Heather Holliday, Reuben Kaye and a host of daring deviants! This is sure to be the hottest room in town with a range of sexy circus acts!

  1. Be A Daredevil

If you are feeling like taking a risk and being a daredevil, Fringe Central will be the place to be for a change of pace. Step into a 40ft shipping container for SÉANCE which blurs the bounds of perception and reality using binaural audio and sensory deprivation.

Stick around, if you dare, for the thrilling FLIGHT, multi-sensory journey in complete darkness, this time set in the economy section of a commercial airliner. Prepare to have your spine tingled.
