A truly unique and energetic show!

Like a prog rock album come to life before you, Ragnarokkr put me directly in mind of 70s viking-rockers Odin. We're talking Norse mythology sung LOUDLY over guitar and drums that serve a heavy dose of Black Sabbath and early Alice Cooper.

As with a 70s concept record (or an opera), you'll be best served by wikipedia-ing the story before you go in, as the enjoyment here lies in the liberties taken in retelling it. The more familiar you are with it, the better positioned you'll be to appreciate the approach they've taken.

This feels destined to evolve into a late night party show at some point - it'd benefit from a live music venue with a more rounded PA, a grander stage and the freedom for the audience to pop to the bar/chat to friends/have a boogie. The intimacy of the Blue Room stage does fight the shows' ambitions towards stadium theatrics - that's the fringe though, often you've gotta work with what you've got when it comes to performance spaces. This is definitely a rock show.

It's very loud - even if it makes you question your punk credibility, do accept their earplugs as it's a small room. While I'm suggesting things to take with you: although I personally suck terribly at taking drugs - if I were into trips or magic mushrooms, this is exactly the kind of show that would suit that kind of a ride.

Like the best fringe shows, this one is a bit "Vegemite" - it's either gonna be the best thing you've ever seen or you're gonna really hate it. If you're a proud nerd and/or have an interest in ancient mythology and/or have a few Yes albums in your second hand vinyl collection and/or are a fan of psychedelic substances, this will be right up your alley.
